December 1890

Died, December 16, 1890, at his home in Keswick, Iowa, Jacob H. Roby, aged 29 years and 10 months.  Mr. Roby was born in Hardin county, Ohio, February 1st 1861. In the fall of 1872, he moved with his parents to Iowa county, Iowa, and in 1874, moved to Adams township, Keokuk county, where he has since made his home.  In September 1888, he was married to Sarah Myers, who with one child still survives him.  Some years ago he united with the M.E. church at this place and has lived a constant Christian life, respected and esteemed by all who knew him.  Funeral services were held at the church December 17th, conducted by Rev. Tillet.  Mr. Roby was affected with Bright disease of the kidneys and was a patient sufferer all through his sickness.  The wife, mother, brothers and all the relatives have the sympathy of many friends in this, their sad bereavement.
