What Cheer Patriot Chronicle

Virgil Patterson

Virgil Lee Patterson ,85, of What Cheer died Friday Jan. 1, at Keokuk County Hospital in Sigourney.  

He was born April 19, 1902, in Baxer to Lee and Lura Snodgrass Patterson.

He married Mabel Belle Curry August 27, 1927, in Sigourney.

He was employed at What Cheer Clay Products and was a brick mason.  He lived in What Cheer all his life and wa sa member of What Cheer Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Anita Conklin of Sigourney and Neola VanHauen of Parkersburg; a son, Dean A. of Parkersburg; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 4 at Harden Funeral Chapel with Rev. Warren James officiating.

Music was by Mrs. Jean Wilson.

Bearers of the casket were Rusty Garrett, Tony Patterson, Jeff Winn, Terry Kannegieter, Jeffrey Conklin and Gary Rodby.

Burial was in Springfield Cemetery near Delta.
