Body of Mrs. O'Connor Brought Home for Burial

The body of Mrs. Susie M. O'Connor, who died following a siege of illness from internal cancer, at her home in Ottawa, Kansas, was brought here for internment last Saturday. The funeral services were held at the Western Baptist church of which Mrs. O'Connor was a member for many years. Rev. Owings, the pastor, officated. The body was taken to the Atlanta Center cemetery where her parents and other relatives are buried.

Mrs. O'Connor was born near Western July 18, 1876, and died October 28, 1920, aged 44 years, 3 months, and 10 days. Her maiden name was Herndon. She was married to M.F. O'Connor January 1, 1898, and to them three children were born. Esther L., Roderick M., and Daniel, who survive her, Mr. O'Connor having passed away in 1905.

The out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Rev. and Mrs. Miller of Tobias; I.E. Watenpaugh and his wife, so Leil and daughter Martha of Stoddard, Nebraska; Mrs. O. Mendenhall and son Harold of Gibbon, Nebraska; Mrs. Martha Watenpaugh, Mrs. Miller, and Mrs. Mendenhall are sisters of Mrs. O'Connor. Miss Melissa Herndon, a sister and Albert Herndon, a brother of Western recently returned form a visit to the other brother, Wm, of Salem, Oregon.

A friend, speaking of Mrs. O'Connor said, "She was converted and united with the Baptist church of Western in early life, and to her Lord, her profession and her church, she was always most loyal and true. She has gone home to be with Him whom she loved and served first."
