Mrs. Sylvia Craig McAvoy, Texas City, Texas, formerly of Kansas City, died Monday at a hospital in Galveston, Texas.  She was 79 years and 6 months old.  She was born in Keokuk County, Iowa.

She had lived in this area (Kansas City) most of her life before moving to Texas City a year ago.  She worked for Rothenberg and Schloss Inc. 15 years before she retired in 1959.

She leaves a son, Lee Marsh, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Frances Johnson, Texas City, and Mrs. Hazel Speers, Brantley, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Daphna Rivers, Kansas City, and Mrs. Cora Casem, Tacoma, Washington; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests contributions to Amercian Cancery Society.

She was the daughter of Joseph Edgar Craig and Hattie Brunson Craig.
